Where did you get your layout?I made it myself using a ton of tutorials and help from various people @
component_help. If you want a layout that looks like this, I suggest you go there and look through the tutorials (and/or check
ainabarad_icons to see layouts I've posted for other people to snag, customize, and use).
Why "friends only"?For your protection as well as my own. With the exception of a small
handful of public entries, all entries are either friends only or private. (As a permanent member, I occasionally make entries from previous years private.) This journal is "friends only" because 1) I like to know and have control over who's reading my journal, 2) I post about my personal life which I do not wish to share with the entire world, and 3) to protect those who do not know me personally and/or may not wish to see my entries from suffering from an overabundance of Ainabarad-esque exposure.
Will you make me [insert icon or other graphic request here]?
Please go to
ainabarad_icons and join the community to request icons and/or other graphics. Unless you are a close personal friend of mine, my personal journal is not the place to request graphics.
Why do you have so many LJ friends?Like anyone, as time goes by I meet more people. Yes, my list of LJ friends is long, but I assure you it's still all about quality, not quantity (just as it always has been with me) and I do pay attention to all of my friends' journals as time permits as well as considering them all my friends. I'm honored to know them and have them in my life. Most have many things in common with me so we get along very well. If you read my profile, find we have a lot of interests in common, want to be added to my list of friends so we can interact and get to know each other via LJ, and leave a comment introducing yourself and asking to be added, I'm certainly not going to turn down that potential friendship solely because my list of friends is already so long. Not to mention, a lot of the people on my f-list either do not post to their journal often or no longer use LJ. I'm not going to remove them simply to shorten my f-list. For example, my husband is on my f-list and he no longer uses LJ for anything anymore.
Why do you have so much info about you on your profile and in the few public entries in your journal? So potential new friends can have a better idea of who I am, what I'm like, what I'm into, etc. and in case friends may want to read it as well. It's a shame to think of how many awesome friendships are possibly completely missed out on simply because one person or another didn't bother to offer much info about themselves. Of course, the shorter answer to this question would probably be that, although I do not actually have OCD, I seem to suffer from it when it comes to my LJ! LOL
